You must be an Authorised implanter in VIC to implant microchips in VIC.
You must register owner details after implanting with a licensed registry in VIC.
We offer pre-paid registration to The Australasian Animal Registry who are licensed in VIC.
An Authorised Implanter is:
For the purposes of implanting a cat or dog:
i) Registered Veterinarians (Victorian registration) who have undertaken the DPI approved “Australian Veterinary Association Victorian Microchip Implementation Course”
ii) Persons with the following certificates:
– Certificate IV / Advanced Certificate in Veterinary Nursing
– Certificate III in Animal Technology
– Certificate IV in Animal Control and Regulation / Animal Welfare (Regulation)
iii) Persons with the following approved qualifications:
– VBN287 Course in Microchip Implantation Procedures Competency for Cats and Dogs, and who are employed by, or have a written agreement for supervision with, a veterinarian
For the purposes of implanting a horse:
i) Registered Veterinarians (Victorian registration) who have undertaken the DPI approved “Australian Veterinary Association Victorian Microchip Implementation Course” learn more about microchipping horses.
